Cumulative responses were measured as the mean advantage of the additive model based on 1600 replicates of the simulations; the four scenarios are: (1) large overdominance, (2) realistic overdominance, (3) realistic incomplete dominance and (4) additive; in all scenarios, there was either one chromosome, 100 QTL and 1000 SNPs or ten chromosomes, 1000 QTL and 10 000 SNPs.
